Gal About Town

Do you believe that what goes around comes around? Sort of like a karma here on earth type thing? I sure hope it does.  Some people really need a big ole cosmic kick in the ass, a total getting- your- just- desserts type deal.  Generally, people who are completely idiotic and you know, morally bankrupt, get what’s coming to them, but it would be nice to have a general consensus.

Anyway, it was a busy weekend, with very little time to just sit around, except on Sunday night when I couldn’t fall asleep, as usual.

So this must be a record for me – I went out Thursday (extremely hard), Friday (for a birthday party) and Saturday.  Wow, go me.  No wonder I am freaking exhausted.

Hunk-a-Mania

Hunk-a-Mania

Friday: Was quite the interesting time…. My group of girlfriends went to a male strip club.  That’s right, men with perfect bodies dancing around entertaining us, taking their clothes off.  There was one, maybe 2 cute ones.  Of those, one was tall.  The others had perfect bodies, but a perfect body does not a perfect male make.  No, no, no.

It was quite cheesy overall. They played the theme song from Top Gun (umm it’s not the 90s people, Tom Cruise is a scientologist now and married to Joey Potter), they danced around in leopard print pimp costumes (ps who is seriously turned on by that?), and firemen outfits.  It was what the male mind would devise as they tried desperately to come up with what would turn on a female.  Not surprisingly, they come up short.   Still, I did laugh a lot, and learned that men have even more to learn about women than I previously thought possible.  One friend commented that being there made her miss her boyfriend, and I replied that being there made me actually want one.  I think that was the opposite goal they were going for.

The birthday girl got a lap dance from an Asian stripper with the horrible timing to start dancing on her when the show was like one act in.  Kind of stupid, but in chatting with him, it became clear he may not be the brightest bulb, so to speak.  My friend was mightily embarrassed, which I believe was the point.

Otherwise, the show and drinks were overpriced. I was glad I went though, because she had a good time and hanging out with my Hoboken Hoochies is always a pleasure.  And don’t get me wrong, there were some women there who were quite into it.  They were a few hundred drinks in before the bar, but they were quite entertaining as well.  Oh the general public, what we can find when we completely aren’t looking for it.

Saturday I went to an Italian restaurant near Union Square that did nothing for me.  All of the meals we had were so-so, mine especially.  I ordered risotto with scallops and smallest scallops I have not seen in a long time.  Some lemon butter sauce that wasn’t horrible, just wasn’t special.  Hit up a bar called Stitch, in the garment distict…cute right…it had a sewing matchine and sewing decals all around.  Good stuff.

Leo

Leo

So, I have a feeling that the tenth star of a Leo must be in retrograde.  That was my attempt at sounding like I know about horoscopes (by the way, when I first worked on my college newspaper, I used to literally MAKE UP the horoscopes people.  Don’t believe them! You have me trying to figure out your future! there is nothing I’m less qualified to do).  Seriously though, there must be something cosmic going on, because I am meeting a ton of guys lately.  Not to toot my own horn too much, but yes, three people asked me for my phone number on Thursday night.  Granted, one I did not want to give it to (though I did, I felt bad, what can I say) and you know, the other is AN ASS HOLE who I told never to contact me in any way again, but you know, the other seems decent.  We’ll see though, the universe enjoys a bit of dark humor/humiliation when it comes to my love life.  Someone up there is very entertained, let me tell ya.

THEN, on Saturday night when I was coming back from the bar, I struck up a conversation with a VERY cute guy on the bus, who actually knew a few people from my high school.  No number there, unfortunately.

Anyway, something weird must be up because I so rarely even meet people and never any cute guys (I mean I see them, but they won’t speak to me :-P ).  Then again, I was out a lot this weekend, so maybe it’s the universe telling me I need to get out more if I want to meet guys? Hmmm…way too simple of an explanation.  I’m sticking to my planet theory.

So I clearly deserved a break on Sunday, but I didn’t get one because I was tapped to babysit for one of my coworkers.  I must say, this two-year old makes me think that if one day I actually have a child (geez louise that would be weird) it might be ok.  She was no less than an angel, a seriously cute, pretty, darling, well-behaved kid.  Good job, co-worker.  She (and her husband) are doing something right.  So it was kind of fun hanging out with her and trying to decipher her baby gurgling and alien words.  Hate to say it, but kids can be kind of cool.  Though some of the kids at the playground were absolute devils, which renewed my worship in birth control and abortions. I am going to hell.

So yeah, Sunday night consisted of napping and TV.  Which brings me to my next point. I am going to have to chance my opinion of True Blood.  I hate to be a hypocrite, but even I can be wrong, and I’m admitting it and bottom line is that I really enjoy that show! In my defense, it’s gotten a lot better.

Peggy of Mad Men

Peggy of Mad Men

One thing that I’ve always been right about is Mad Men.  It is hands down my favorite show on TV.  Amazing script, even more amazing actors, cool story, fantastic wardrobe.  Last night was the season finale (this is going to seriously kill my Sunday nights!).  If you have not been watching this show, you are lucky, because you can go out and buy the DVDs.  Someone at work compared me to Peggy, and even though she’s the super ambitious, kind of prudish (yet has a secret child!) girl at the office, I took it as a compliment.  She dresses really cute, especially lately.  I love her fifties outfits.  I am so sad it is over for the season!
